3.15 HAYDOCK: Peter Marsh Chase

HIGH weights have had a tough time winning this race — and the testing conditions will make it even harder to shoulder much of a burden.

So we’ll put a line through Ptit Zig, Carole’s Destrier, Rock The Kasbah and Yala Enki.

Horses aged at least eight win most renewals of the Peter Marsh so Hainan, Tintern Theatre and Forest Des Aigles have a big negative.

That has cut the field in half and normally you would cross out any of the remaining contenders that haven’t won in testing ground. But the six still standing can all boast that feat.

The Dutchman can go because he has yet to win beyond 2m but that still leaves us with five likely lads in Captain Redbeard, Fine Rightly, Walk In The Mill, Highland Lodge and Knockanrawley.

Winning last time out has been a negative so Captain Redbeard can come off the shortlist.

Only one horse as old as 12 has scored in the past 10 years, which puts a cloud over Highland Lodge.

So it’s a shootout between Fine Rightly, Walk In The Mill and Knockanrawley.

3.15 Haydock - Walk In The Mill: 'Fits the trends and looks a nice price'

All three can be backed at the prices but WALK IN THE MILL is a proven stayer who goes in soft ground. He was a good third at Ascot last time and comes here with a live chance.

Knockanrawley is another who relishes heavy ground and can hit the frame at a double-figure price.
