Brian Ellison’s Definitly Red likely to skip the Sky Bet Chase at Doncaster and head to Cheltenham for the Cotswold Chase

BRIAN ELLISON is favouring a trip to Cheltenham rather than the Sky Bet Chase at Doncaster on Saturday for Definitly Red.

Ellison's nine-year-old would have to shoulder top weight on Town Moor and with the weather causing a few problems, the BetBright Trial Cotswold Chase is currently being favoured.

"Cheltenham is the main plan at the moment, but it could be off, it could be bottomless so we'll just have to see," said Ellison.

"We want to find out if he acts round Cheltenham. If he does, he'll go for the Gold Cup, if he doesn't we'll aim for Aintree and the Grand National."

L'Ami Serge is an interesting entry in the Sky Bet Chase, having been campaigned over hurdles for a year and second to Sam Spinner in the Long Walk at Ascot last month.

His trainer Nicky Henderson also has O O Seven in the mix.
