Malcolm Jefferson's chaser went down narrowly on his second chase start and connections are unsure where he will head next

MALCOLM JEFFERSON is unsure where Mount Mews will head to next after suffering a narrow defeat at Doncaster on Friday.

Jefferson's promising novice was beaten just half a length by his more experienced rival Wotzizname when trying three miles for the first time.

He had made an impressive debut over fences at the same track earlier in the month.

Jefferson's daughter, Ruth, said: "He settled well and he jumped OK.

"He's a novice and was still a bit novicey. A mistake at the last probably cost us, I don't know, but he ran to the line.

"There were a few things to take out that were good. Long term, we will have to have a good think about it.

"We've given him enough chances at two (miles) and we thought a bit further would help."
