Champion Hurdle fifth Elgin could switch to the Flat
Alan King is considering switching Elgin from hurdles to the Flat, while he has also given updates on Yanworth, Redicean and Midnight Tour after their runs at the Cheltenham Festival.

ALAN KING is pondering a Flat campaign with classy hurdler Elgin.
The Elite Racing Club-owned six-year-old finished fifth in the Champion Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival on his most recent start, having picked up competitive handicaps at Cheltenham and Ascot and the Kingwell Hurdle at Wincanton earlier in theseason.
King said: "Elgin has been fine since Cheltenham and ran very well.
"I don't think there is anything left for him jumping - I can't run him in the Scottish Champion Hurdle off that mark (161) - so we might give him a run on the Flat.
"He has never run on the Flat so he will just go for a maiden and start from scratch."

King also had post-Cheltenham updates on Redicean and Yanworth, both of whom failed to live up to expectations in the Triumph and Stayers' Hurdles respectively.
King added: "It was just the wrong ground for Redicean in the Triumph. If it's good ground, the plan is to go to Aintree for the juvenile hurdle there.
"I don't think Yanworth will run again this season. I am not totally sure as I haven't spoken to JP (McManus, owner) or Frank (Berry, racing manager), but I will probably put him away now."

The horse who came closest to providing King with a sought after victory at the Festival was Midnight Tour, who was beaten just half a length into second place by Benie Des Dieux in the OLBG Mares' Hurdle.
"Midnight Tour ran really well. She was probably the highlight of the week for us, really," said King.
"There is not much else for her over here and if she runs again this season, we might go to Punchestown."
