Charlie Appleby’s Soliloquy cut in price for the 1000 Guineas after stylish Nell Gwyn Stakes win at Newmarket racecourse

Charlie Appleby's three-year-old was cut into around 14-1 for the QIPCO 1000 Guineas following her win. The Godolphin-owned filly would need to be supplemented for the fillies Classic next month.

SOLILOQUY threw her hat into the Guineas ring with a stylish victory in the Lanwades Stud Nell Gwyn Stakes at Newmarket.

Charlie Appleby's filly virtually made all under a class ride from William Buick, as she held off her challengers with plenty in hand.

The Godolphin filly will need to be supplemented for the QIPCO 1000 Guineas but was priced up around a 14-1 shot following that performance.

Altyn Orda (4-1) followed her home in second with Eirene (20-1) in third.

Appleby said: "Soliloquy's work recently has done nothing but impress us. In the last three weeks she's blossomed and speed has come from where we haven't seen speed before.

"She's not in either the English or the French Guineas. We'd like to keep the two fillies apart and we'll see where we are in the next couple of weeks.

"We would supplement Soliloquy for one or the other. This filly goes on a quicker surface whereas Wild Illusion broke her maiden on soft and won on soft in the Boussac as well.

"Wild Illusion's priority is the English Guineas, but if it is quick ground we'd have to have a chat nearer the time. This filly then potentially may come into the reckoning for one or the other."
