Jessica Harrington will aim Torcedor at the WH Stayers’ Million after Ascot victory
Following his comfortable all-the-way win in the Sagaro Stakes at Ascot on Wednesday, Jessica Harrington will allow Torcedor a chance to win the WH Stayers' Million, but the experienced Irish trainer expects it to be difficult to achieve.
JESSICA HARRINGTON will allow Torcedor the opportunity for the £1million WH Stayers' Million - but remains realistic over the likelihood of achieving the feat.
Harrington's six-year-old once again displayed his liking for Ascot with a comfortable win in the Sagaro Stakes on Wednesday and will head straight back to Royal Berkshire course for leg two of the series, the Ascot Gold Cup.
The bonus is a new initiative and will go to any horse who can win four of this year's top staying races, starting with one of four recognised prep races in May.
The Sagaro Stakes, in which Torcedor outclassed his rivals, was the first qualifying race, with The Boodles Diamond Ormonde Stakes at Chester, the Yorkshire Cup at York and the Matchbook Henry II Stakes at Sandown the other qualifying races this month.
The Ascot Gold Cup at Royal Ascot is leg two, with the Qatar Goodwood Cup and the Weatherbys Hamilton Lonsdale Cup at York the final races in the series.
