We narrow down the field to help you pick the winner of the Classic live on ITV this Saturday at Newmarket racecourse
3.35 NEWMARKET: 2000 Guineas
GOOD form heading to Newmarket is vital so you can cross out any contender that wasn’t in the first three last time out.
This year that spells the end for Cardsharp, Nebo, Raid and Rajasinghe from the 14 contenders.
You don’t want a horse with too many miles on the clock. Six previous outings is the limit so Tip Two Win, James Garfield and Masar are also overlooked.

At the other end of the scale, only two of the past 10 winners were coming here with fewer than three runs under their belt.
That spells danger for Elarqam who has had just two visits to the track. The minimum official rating for a Guineas winner looks like 109 so Murillo falls down on that trend.
Looking at the trials, no recent winner of the Guineas has come out of the Craven so Roaring Lion goes, while the Greenham has not been a great guide either — Frankel aside.
Expert Eye runs in the great horse’s colours but surely isn’t up to that standard.
That leaves us with Headway and two Aidan O’Brien runners in Gustav Klimt and Saxon Warrior.
Given the strong record of the two Ballydoyle hopes, the winner should come from there although Headway looks overpriced.
Of the two, O’Brien has four wins from six favourites which tips the balance in the favour of GUSTAV KLIMT.
