When is the King's Stand Stakes, what TV channel is it on, what's the distance and which sort of horses can enter?

The 2018 King's Stand Stakes will take place on Tuesday, June 19 at 3.40pm and will be live on ITV.

It's a Group 1 Flat race run over five furlongs for horses aged three or older.

The race came about by accident - despite it's prominence at the meeting now.

The race was created as a result of bad weather at the meeting in 1860.

Heavy rain made it impossible to run the Royal Stand Plate over its usual distance of 2 miles, so it was shortened to 5 furlongs on the only raceable part of the course.

The race regained Group 1 status in 2008 and is now part of the Global Sprint Challenge.
