THE Ascot Gold Cup is set to be another thriller this year with Order Of St George trying to win the historic race for a second time.
The feature race on the Thursday of Royal Ascot was first run in 1807 and is the most prestigious race in Europe for staying horses.
When is the 2018 Ascot Gold Cup?
The 2018 Ascot Gold Cup will take place on Thursday 21st June.
The race is due off at 4.20pm on the third day of the Royal meeting and will be shown live on ITV.

Tickets range from £46 in the Windsor Enclosure up to £88 in the Queen Anne Enclosure.

How much money does the Gold Cup winner get and what type of race is it?
This year's Ascot Gold Cup has a prize fund of £500,000, with £283,550 to the winner.
It is a Group 1 Flat race run over a distance of two miles and four furlongs and is open to four-year-old's and up.
It is one of the most prestigious of the five feature races during Royal Ascot week. The other feature contests are the St James's Palace Stakes on day one, the Prince Of Wales's Stakes on day two, the Coronation Stakes on day four and the Diamond Jubilee Stakes on the final day.

Last year's race produced one of the finishes of the meeting, with 5-1 shot Big Orange making virtually all the running in gutsy fashion.
He held off the late challenge of the favourite Order Of St George (5-6f) to win by a short-head, with Harbour Law (33-1) third.

Order Of St George won the race in 2016, ran second last year and is the 9-4 favourite after winning both of his starts this year.
