NEWBURY

NEVERLAND ROCK cost connections just shy of half a million as a yearling and is bred to be speedy as a juvenile.
The market will be the best guide, with so little form to assess.
Almurr went well on his debut at Leicester last time and should improve for the experience.

SOLAR ECHO was very green on her debut at Windsor last time before finishing well from a long way back. She is well bred and should improve a lot on that first run.
ASCOT HOODOO Clive Cox believes it will be fifth time lucky at Ascot for Harry Angel

SCOTTISH JIG caught the eye on his debut at Kempton before Christmas when she was hampered a couple of times before finishing like a train from miles back. It’s a slight worry that she hasn’t been out since but she comes from a top family and wouldn’t have to improve much to win.

SEA OF CLASS (nap) lived up to her name when cruising to victory over course and distance last time out. That was a big leap forward from an already solid debut effort and she’s already proven in this Listed class. Mrs Sippy is coming back from a long break but showed promise when winning at Doncaster last autumn and looks the main threat.

FAMILY FORTUNES runs off the same mark as last time at Wetherby when he was beaten by just a neck. That was over this trip in a similar standard race on the same ground. There’s no reason why he won’t be right on the premises again in what looks an open contest.
4.00
MOUNTAIN PEAK is a frequent winner on the all-weather and came back from a gelding op to finish a good third at Lingfield last time. He has very little turf experience so there’s every chance he’ll be able to reproduce that form over an ideal trip.
4.35
SPICE WAR looked to be crying out for this trip when a good third over 1m2f at Haydock last time. He was doing his best work at the finish there and the first-time blinkers may just sharpen him up a little too.
5.10
EARTHLY is dropping down the handicap and has the benefit of the excellent Simon Walker in the saddle for this amateurs’ race. He had all kinds of trouble in running at Wolverhampton last time and should be spot-on fitness wise for this return to turf. He’s won off a much higher mark so should be competitive.
