Royal Ascot 2018: Accidental Agent a stunning 33-1 winner of the Queen Anne Stakes

Outsider gives trainer Eve Johnston Houghton and jockey Charles Bishop their first Group 1 win

ACCIDENTAL Agent ran out a shock 33-1 winner of the Queen Anne Stakes at Royal Ascot.

The outsider was delivered late by jockey Charles Bishop to cause a huge upset in the opening race of the Royal meeting.

The Eve Johnson-Houghton-trained four-year-old finished sixth behind Rhododendron in the Lockinge at Newbury last month and he was ridden patiently by Bishop.

Deauville set an even early gallop but approaching the final furlong the first two in the betting, Benbatl and Rhododenron, were weakening out of contention.

Lightning Spear looked the likeliest winner under Oisin Murphy with around 100 yards to race, but he had no answers as Accidental Agent swooped from off the pace in the last strides.

Lord Glitters also outran his odds of 20-1 to take second.

The result gave both Johnson-Houghton and Bishop their biggest victories to date.

Johnson-Houghton said: "I thought I was tilting at windmills and I dreamt about being third.
