Royal Ascot dud Redkirk Warrior to have a crack at the July Cup
The Australian sprinter will head to Newmarket with a new jockey after disappointing in the Diamond Jubilee Stakes
AUSTRALIAN sprint sensation Redkirk Warrior will attempt to set the record straight in the July Cup at Newmarket.
The seven-year-old flopped when strongly fancied for the Diamond Jubilee Stakes but trainer David Hayes is hoping a new rider will help him bounce back.
Before heading to Royal Ascot, the speedster from Down Under had registered two consecutive wins at Group 1 level, and hopes were high he could improve again to strike at the Berkshire track.
However, the son of Notnowcato struggled from a long way out in the six furlong contest, and clearly didn't show anything close to his true form.

However, as reported on racing.com, connections are keen to have another crack at a Group 1 on British shores before shipping their pocket rocket back over to Australia.
Hayes thinks a change of scenery, coupled with a change of jockey, could see their star return to winning ways.

He told racing.com: "We were really disappointed with the run.
"History tells us that he's let us down very few times but every time he's travelled he's never run to his best so there was always that nagging doubt in the back of our minds.
"Looking forward, Newmarket is where he's trained, he doesn't have to travel and he worked very well on the course proper there so we think that we're here, we might give him one more chance in the July Cup.
"His best form is as good as the winner so if we can get him back in form and change a couple of things in the next two or three weeks, he can turn things around because he's got the ability.
"Frankie rode the horse perfectly, there's no complaints about Frankie but we may have a change of rider for the July Cup because he didn't run for Frankie."
