THE Coral-Eclipse has been thrown wide open after Masar was declared a non-runner for the Sandown Group 1 on Friday evening.

The son of New Approach was found to have heat in his front right leg earlier this morning.

After consulting his owner, Godolphin supremo Sheikh Mohammed, the decision was taken to skip the Group 1.

Appleby said via Godolphin's website: "Midway through the morning it became clear that he was sore.

"His off-fore was inflamed and we feel he must have knocked himself at exercise.

"He will not be running in the Eclipse.

"I have discussed it with His Highness Sheikh Mohammed, who agreed that he should miss the race.

"It is a blow but it is the right decision considering what has happened.

";Masar will remain under veterinary supervision for the time being."

Following Masar's withdrawal, John Gosden's Roaring Lion, who was third in the Derby, is now the 13-8 favourite.

Saxon Warrior is second in at 2-1, ahead of Happily at 5-1.
