INJURY UPDATE

Team Masar await the results of the Derby winner’s scan which will reveal extent of problem that kept him out of Coral Eclipse

The Godolphin colt became a non-runner on the evening before Sandown's big Group 1

TEAM Masar are sweating on the results of scans due back on their Derby hero Masar.

The colt was a late withdrawal from Saturday's Coral Eclipse after he was found to be sore on Friday morning.

Masar was scrapped from the race after the decision was confirmed after consultation with Sheikh Mohammed.

Trainer Charlie Appleby reports that the swelling has gone down on the off-fore, but that plans remained on hold for the son of New Approach while further details emerge.

Appleby told godolphin.com: "The inflammation has subsided and he has been responding well under veterinary monitoring, but the next big thing is the scan.

"We hope to know more when we get those results."

In Masar's absence, Roaring Lion stepped into the limelight and claimed his deserved Group 1 for Oisin Murphy and John Gosden.

The three-year-old will now aim at the Juddmonte International where the son of Kitten's Joy could clash with last year's star horse Enable as she continues her comeback.
