Martyn Meade bullish as Advertise guns for the July Stakes at Newmarket
The exciting two-year-old found only Calyx too strong when second in the Coventry at Royal Ascot
TRAINER Martyn Meade will be hoping to Ad another big race to his haul in the July Stakes tomorrow.
The Newmarket trainer has enjoyed plenty of success in recent seasons and saddles the 7-4 favourite Advertise in the Group 2.
The son of Showcasing made a winning debut at Newbury in May before finishing second to the exciting Calyx in the Coventry at Royal Ascot.
Group 1 winner Meade had been tempted to run him over 7f in the Superlative Stakes at Newmarket on Saturday, but he has decided to keep the colt at 6f for the timebeing.
He said: "He beat everything on his side, he just didn't know anything about the horse on the other side.
"Having said that, you can't take anything away from Calyx, he looks very good.

"Nevertheless, it was a very good run from our horse.
"Thankfully we're not bumping into him this time. He's got a favourite's chance, I'd say.
"The ground should be fine for him, not dissimilar to Ascot.
"I toyed with the idea of running him in the Superlative over 7f, as he took a bit of time to get going in both his races, but we decided to stick to six for now."
John Gosden, the trainer of Calyx, will again try to spoil Meade's party with the promising Legends Of War.
The colt won easily on his debut and was among the favourites for the Coventry, but he missed that race due to a minor setback.
Gosden said: "He got a temperature and a cough and his blood was wrong which meant he missed the Coventry, so thank goodness we didn't run him.
"We'll be looking to run a nice race. He's got a good turn of foot, so we'll be looking to put it to best use."
LATEST IN HORSE RACING
Aidan O'Brien has not won the July Stakes since 2005, and he relies on Railway Stakes winner Van Beethoven and North Wind to end his drought.
Konchek and Charming Kid finished fifth and eighth respectively in the Norfolk Stakes last time and cross swords again.
Alan King's dual winner Dunkerron and Simon Crisford's Sporting Chance complete the field.
