Tim Easterby to test Wells Farhh Go’s star quality in Great Voltigeur bid

Bahrain Trophy winner to step up in grade at York next month

WELLS FARHH GO, successful in the Bahrain Trophy at the Newmarket July Festival last week, will have his next start in the Group 2 Great Voltigeur Stakes at York next month.

Tim Easterby's three-year-old bounced back to form with a bang at the Cambridgeshire venue and is now targeting bigger prizes.

Two victories as a two-year-old had marked Tim Easterby's colt as one to follow, but following a disappointing performance in the Dante and a sixth in the King Edward VII Stakes at Royal Ascot, you could have been forgiven for suggesting he hadn't trained on.

However, the son of Farhh silenced the doubters in some style last week as he took the Bahrain Trophy by the scruff of the neck, grabbing the lead and never looking in any danger.

That was a season's best by some margin, and the step up in trip and change in tactics clearly helped.

Now connections have their eyes on bigger prizes, with a crack at the Great Voltigeur at York first on the agenda.

Easterby said: "He's come out of the race in very good form, thankfully.

"It was always the plan to make more use of him. We actually wanted to do that at Ascot, when we went through that race we thought there'd be a couple who'd go forward, but they didn't.

"It was a bit of a cock-up in the end because they dawdled, but we got it right eventually.

"It's definitely the Great Voltigeur next and we'll see how he gets on there."
