MULLEN IT OVER

Today’s FREE horse racing tips: Nottingham, Newbury, Newmarket, Hamilton, Pontefract and Haydock – Steve Mullen’s betting preview for Friday, July 20

Steve Mullen guides you through Friday's racing at Nottingham, Newbury, Newmarket, Hamilton, Pontefract and Haydock

HAYDOCK

2.10

KANNAPOLIS did well to win with a bit in hand at Beverley last time out. He stalked the pace there and had little trouble outgunning his rivals in the closing stages.

That was a decent effort for the level of racing and there should be more to come.

2.40

ARMAGEDDON created a good impression when third on her debut at Thirsk last time out. She looked green and missed the kick before running on well despite not being asked too many questions.

That was over this trip and it would be a surprise if she didn’t improve quite a bit.

3.15

ROYAL RESIDENCE looked a good prospect on his handicap debut here last time out. He left his fair maiden form behind when finishing second coming back from five months off.

There was a good distance back to the third horse home so the form looks solid.

3.45

GLAMOROUS ROCKET has handled all the rises the handicapper has thrown at her so far so there’s no reason why another 10lb should pose a problem today.

She had bags in hand when winning on the turf at Lingfield last time and sticks to the minimum trip here.

4.20

SWISS KNIGHT looks hard to beat after winning here over a mile last time out. He showed good pace there so this drop back in distance shouldn’t raise too many concerns.

He was an expensive buy and should prove more stronger than a Class 5 novice event in time.

4.50

SURYA was impressive in beating next-time winner Artarmon at Newcastle last time and can follow up switching back to turf.

He wasn’t stopping at the end of the extended 1m4f there so this longer distance holds no fears.

5.20

ROCK WARBLER ran a good race when fourth at Leicester latest on the back of a solid third at Doncaster in June.

Despite those efforts the handicapper has dropped him by 1lb which brings him right into the frame for this. The trip suits and he’s run well in this grade before.
