CERATONIA could well be good enough to take this on his debut for Charlie Appleby. She comes from a family who do well over this sort of distance and she’s likely to be a miler once she has a bit more experience. Those who have seen a racecourse before look a pretty modest bunch.

ALMANIA is bred to be a star with his dam having enough zip as a juvenile to win over this sort of distance, although he’ll need further in time. With a couple of his main rivals on paper missing the race, he should get the better of Production who should know his job coming from Richard Hannon.

EYE OF THE STORM could easily outrun his price after getting no luck in the Old Newton Cup at Haydock last time. He had earlier gone close when third in hot company at Ayr and has no problem seeing out this trip. He’s a Group 3 winner at best and looks in decent form.

BESHAAYIR was very impressive when winning over course and distance last time and warrants this step out of handicap company. She had plenty left in the tank crossing the line more than four lengths in front and is clearly on the upgrade. Preening went close in this company at Sandown last time and is another progressive type. Di Fede was a respectable seventh in the Britannia Stakes at the Royal meeting and wasn’t beaten far in this class at Sandown last time.

4.10

AUSTRIAN SCHOOL went close in a Hamilton Listed race last time and a repeat of that should be good enough before he goes further up the weights next week. He is best over this distance and shold have a lot more improvement to come.

4.45

VENTUROUS looked a different horse after a breathing operation at Chester last time. He should really have won a decent contest around the Roodee but he met plenty of trouble in running that meant he had to settle for second. He is up just 2lb for that and should be right there again.

5.15

PROCEDURE was a bit too keen early on over 6f at Bath last time and the faster pace of the minimum trip should help her settle better today. She still managed to finish second in a photo and goes off the same mark today.
