Goodwood also-ran Blonde Warrior on target for Solario Stakes

Hugo Palmer's two-year-old did too much too soon in the Vintage Stakes and will bid for compensation at Sandown

BLONDE WARRIOR is set for a crack at the Solario Stakes at Sandown.

The son of Zoffany had been on an upward curve before disappointing at Glorious Goodwood.

That said, there was little disgrace in finishing behind Dark Vision, who ran out a very impressive winner.

And trainer Hugo Palmer believes his progressive two-year-old, who finished eighth, paid the price for setting too strong a pace at the head of affairs.

He said: "Although he dropped out, he finished best of those up with the pace and he wasn't beaten that far in a race that was set up for closers.

"William (Buick) was full of regret after the race, as although he missed the break, he wished he had taken his medicine and come through with the eventual winner."

A trip to Sandown could now be on the cards at the beginning of next month, provided he's ready to roll by then.

Palmer added: "He has come back well and he could very easily find himself running in the Solario, while he has got a Champagne Stakes entry as well and that would give us a little bit more time.

"I've certainly not lost any faith in him and he has had a good two-year-old season.

"He is a horse that will keep improving and I'm sure he will prove himself in stakes company."
