Today’s horse racing tips: Three longshots to fill your pockets on Thursday, August 16

Don't miss out on these each-way bets for Thursday, August 16

IT'S a day for the purists, and Flat meetings dominate proceedings around the country.

With Group race action from Salisbury, there's quality as well as quantity - and here are three of the best longshots.

1

The step up to Class 4 didn't help BELLEVARDE (2.50 Wolverhampton) but back down in grade again she can continue the winning spree.

She'd previously been in very good form, defeating decent opposition twice at Lingfield.

Her most recent win meant that the handicapper has raised her 4lb to a mark of 74 - but that shouldn't mean she's too harshly treated.

Most of her rivals are out of form and she will be tough to beat off top weight.

It could be worth taking a chance on SCUZEME (3.30 Beverley).

David Barron's sprinter has been out of form for a long time but the handicapper's grip has relented and he's now dropped to a mark from which he can be very competitive.

First-time blinkers could also help and this his first venture into a 0-70.

With many contenders out of form, this could be his for the taking.

He had form capable of winning this at his best, and perhaps the move to Jamie Osborne can rejuvenate HATHAL (4.10 Salisbury)

He's used to plying his trade in slightly better contests than this Group 3, and with a rating of 111 he is officially the second best horse in the race.

According to ratings, Elarqam is the best, but he's not hit top form since a good run in the 2,000 Guineas.

That leaves the door open for the Qatar Racing-owned six-year-old, who needs to prove his fitness but is better than these if producing his top level.
