ANTONIA DE VEGA beat some nice types when scoring on debut at Newmarket last time.

She didn’t get the run of the race and did well to come from a good way back to win going away.

That was over this trip and there should be a lot more to come with her fillies’ weight allowance giving her the edge.

This looks a hot race and Boitron looks a big rival. He has done nothing wrong, with a debut win here followed by a convincing success at Doncaster last time.

The Trader is looking for a hat-trick of wins and was impressive at Chester last time. Good Fortune is another one in the mix.

RELATED is getting his act together and comes here on the back of an excellent effort in the Stewards’ Sprint at Glorious Goodwood.

It takes some doing to finish third in a big-field handicap and he showed a high cruising speed to run his way into contention.

He’s run a few good races this season, including a couple of seconds at Doncaster and he’s weighted to be at least on the podium again today.

Dark Shot was a place behind the tip at Goodwood where he clearly enjoyed returning to 6f after running over the minimum for most of the season.

The handicapper has actually dropped him 1lb for that effort and he should be competitive again.

Quick Look was impressive when winning in a big field at York last time and a 5lb rise in the weights is cancelled out by his claiming rider.

Plenty of others have a chance with Mr Wagyu proving a model of consistency this term. He is an improving three-year-old.

Hee Haw is another to consider after striking at Haydock last time.

Newbury 2.25

Ham it up in the Geoffrey Freer Stakes. There was a lot to like about the way HAMADA blitzed his rivals at Newmarket last time out.

He was winning a decent staying handicap there without breaking sweat. He showed good pace for a staying type and there should be a lot more to come given that was his first run over this sort of distance.

The biggest threat could come from his stablemate Walton Street. It can’t have been easy picking between the two for jockey James Doyle as this four-year-old was unlucky not to win the Duke Of Edinburgh Handicap at Royal Ascot last time out.

Algometer is in excellent form and was beaten less than a length in a French Group 2 last time. He’s a threat, while Dal Harraild should find this easier than the Goodwood Cup he was fourth in last time.

He stays all day and Ryan Moore is an interesting booking for in-form William Haggas.

Newmarket 2.45

JAWWAAL looked a candidate for blinkers when midfield at Newmarket last time and John Gosden’s colt gets them today.

His maiden form was strong enough with wins at Lingfield and Kempton. He went well on his handicap debut at York when he met trouble in running before his more modest run last time.

But it’s still early days and the handicapper has nudged him down the weights.

Rebel Streak has won two of his past three and had a good amount left in the tank at Leicester last time.

He goes up in class but has gone well for today’s claming rider before and the Andrew Balding horses are going well.

Buffer Zone wasn’t beaten far on his handicap debut at Windsor after a couple of maiden successes.

He’s bred to be decent and it would be no shock to see him outrun his mark with Andrea Atzeni taking over in the saddle.

Staxton enjoyed the bit of give in the ground when winning over course and distance latest.

He is another who looks capable of better in the first-time cheekpieces.

Airshow went well here two starts ago and is another to consider despite a modest effort at Windsor last time out.

Newbury 3.00

SALUTI can stick two fingers up to the bookies. He has dropped down the weights and has the ideal draw for this cavalry charge.

He ran a lot better than eighth place suggests at Goodwood last time because he made his move too soon.

His best efforts this season came when winning at Haydock and Newmarket earlier in the campaign, with both successes over this distance.

He is just 2lb higher than the second of those now and can run another good race.

Rogue has been running well and had plenty left in the tank when scoring at Newmarket last month, while Ryan Moore takes over from an inexperienced claimer today.

Sea Fox is looking for a hat-trick and Silvestre De Sousa is a big plus in the saddle.

Mystic Flight catches the eye on just his fourth run. He won his first two outings like a good horse and wasn’t disgraced when second at Chelmsford last time.

Ripon 3.15

GROWL was unlucky in the Stewards’ Cup at Goodwood last time and ran a blinder to finish third.

He was tanking along but hit the inevitable traffic jam and had to pick his way through. He found another gear once in the clear but the winner had flown by then.

Something similar happened 12 months ago and he ended up being sent off favourite for this very race.

He had a claimer on board that day and again met trouble in running. It’s interesting that Richard Fahey has kept Paul Hanagan in the saddle today and his experience could be vital in this big field.

Foolaad didn’t get going in the Shergar Cup last time but has run some good races this season, including when second in a hot handicap at York.

He is 5lb lower in the weights since then and has enough quality to hit the frame.

Kimberella won a Chester Listed race last time and will try to go from the front under a 7lb claimer that keeps his weight down.

Golden Apollo is another to take a close look at. He was beaten in a driving finish at York last time and Tim Easterby has reached for first-time cheekpieces that could help him in this big field.

Newbury 3.35

GUSTAV KLIMT can strike gold in the Hungerford Stakes.

This is the first time the Aidan O’Brien speedster has dropped down from Group 1 level since winning a Listed contest at Leopardstown in April.

Since then he has been running with credit in Classics and big races including a second in the St James’s Palace Stakes at Royal Ascot.

He wasn’t beaten far in the Sussex Stakes at Glorious Goodwood and this is an easier assignment.

Librisa Breeze is another Group 1 regular lowering his sights despite a good run at Deauville last time where he had a bad draw.

Yafta is one going the other way class-wise after a battling win in the Hackwood Stakes here last time. This extra furlong shouldn’t be a problem and he is still progressing.

Sir Dancelot worked wonders to win at Goodwood Group 2 last time after meeting plenty of trouble in running. He had lots left in the tank crossing the line and is best over today’s trip.
