Wells Farhh Go to miss St Leger and rest of the season after picking up injury in routine canter

WELLS FARHH GO will miss the fifth and final Classic of the season after picking up an injury on the gallops.

The three-year-old had been one of the favourites for the St Leger but will not be seen again this year.

It's a big blow for trainer Tim Easterby, who had been looking forward to sending his contender to Town Moor after he won one if the trials for the race, the Bahrain Trophy, back in July.

However, all dreams have now been consigned to the scrapheap, and the trainer is hoping that the injury isn't so serious that he'll have to miss next year as well.

He said: "It's a real sickener, he cantered on Tuesday and came back lame behind.

"It turns out it's a stress fracture and that's his season finished.

"Hopefully he'll be back next year, but you can obviously not say these things for certain. I suppose the saving grace is that it's not a tendon.

"If everything does go to plan with how it heals, I'd like to think he'd be back for the start of next season, but obviously you just don't know at this stage."

With Wells Farhh Go's absence, the Leger market is headed by Kew Gardens, with Old Persian and Latrobe also prominent in the betting.
