God Given wins Park Hill Stakes thriller at Doncaster on Thursday
LUCA CUMANI had a gift sent from heaven as God Given struck to give him his sixth victory in the Park Hill Stakes.
Cumani first won the race back in 1981 with Alma Ata and had jockey Jamie Spencer to thank this time as he watched his filly battle on gamely to defeat Horseplay by a neck.
Hot favourite Pilaster could only manage a never-nearer third under Andrea Atzeni.
Cumani said: "I think it was quite an exciting race - maybe that's just because we won!
"We've had a few issues with her and I wish she would relax a little bit more as she's been getting worked up before her races and in the stalls this season.
"But we've done a lot of work with her at home and today she was very good. Jamie gets on really well with her and he got her settled.

"The plan was if she hadn't won today we'd have gone to France for a Group 2 but we won't go there now.
"Her last race will be the Group 1 Fillies' And Mares race at Ascot before she goes off to stud."
Aidan O'Brien might have had a quiet season compared to his high standards but he still bagged the Group 2 May Hill Stakes with Fleeting.
The filly forged clear in the final furlong to record a stylish win and now looks set to step up to Group 1 company.
Winning jockey Donnacha O'Brien was thrilled with the performance and said: "She’s done it well as she was a bit keen on the way down to the start so I wanted to just take my time with her.
“I didn’t want to put too much pressure on her but it worked out well as they went a nice even gallop.
“She’s done well to reverse the form (with Peach Tree), it’s a long way up the straight mile here and maybe that’s what has made the difference today.
“We’ll have to step up in class now. The Fillies’ Mile would have to be something we would consider.”
