HOLMESWOOD left it too late in a hot contest at York last time and had to settle for third.
He had a full tank of petrol crossing the line and would have been closer if hitting top gear sooner.
It was the first time champion jockey Silvestre De Sousa had ridden Michael Dods’ flyer and hopefully lessons have been learned.
He definitely has what it takes to win a race like this and has dropped below his last winning mark.
Tis Marvellous was snookered by the draw in the same Knavesmire contest and is much better judged on his scorching win at Ascot two starts ago.
He’s 5lb higher than that today but will have no problem with this trip and Ryan Moore is an eyecatching booking by trainer Clive Cox.
Frankie Dettori takes over on Blue De Vega has had a good season, with an Ascot win in July the highlight. He has held his form well and handles this dead ground well.

IT’S a Must in this open Group 3. MUSTASHRY went mighty close to winning the Strensall Stakes at York last time and shapes as though this drop in distance will suit.
It’s unusual for him to be tackling the shortest trip of his career at the age of five but Sir Michael Stoute will have him ready.
He won a Listed contest at Sandown in July and has winning form on ground with some cut.
D’Bai has been performing with credit at this level all season with his best efforts coming over this trip.
He was only just getting started over 6f at Deauville last time and looks a threat. Listed winner Oh This Is Us is stepping out of handicap company after a gutsy success at Chester latest.
This is tougher but that was an impressive effort because he met plenty of traffic problems.

TOO DARN HOT can burn then all off again. He could hardly have been more impressive when winning the Group 3 Solario Stakes at Sandown last time.
That saw him sizzle to the head of next season’s 2,000 Guineas and Derby betting.
Trainer John Gosden made the right sort of noises afterwards and he has the best part of a stone in hand on today’s rivals.
Phoenix Of Spain can take the forecast spot after taking a large step forward when scoring at York last time out.
Further than this 7f distance will suit in time and there’s plenty to build on after that impressive effort. Dark Vision has moved to Godolphin after his Vintage Stakes win at Glorious Goodwood. He relished every yard of this trip there and he’s another high up in next year’s Classic markets.

IT’S OK Dar in the St Leger. LAH TI DAR has looked destined for Classic glory ever since her scorching win in the Pretty Polly Stakes at Newmarket in May.
Sadly she was forced to miss the Oaks and wasn’t seen again until one of the most convincing wins of the season in the Galtres Stakes at York last month.
That was her first crack at 1m4f but she loved every yard of it and was trotting by the time she crossed the finishing line.
She gives the impression that this longer distance will be fine and Frankie Dettori’s mount should have a lot more to offer with so few miles on the clock.
B was favourite for a long time and will relish the return to this distance after being caught out over shorter at York latest. He had earlier won a Group 1 in France and the Queen’s Vase at Royal Ascot. Should Lah Ti Dar run out of petrol, he is sure to cash in.
Loxley could get the better of stablemate Old Persian giving his obvious stamina. He was impressive when striking in the soft at Deauville last month and has clear place claims.

CHESTER
2.05
GO for Glory in this tough handicap. NIGHT OF GLORY got himself too far back when beaten five lengths here last time and hopefully Martin Dwyer can use all his experience this taking over from a claimer.
He showed his liking for staying tests when running another good race around the Roodee in May.
He’s had a nice break and some help from the handicapper ahead of this open race.
Franny Norton knows what he’s doing around this tight track and has the plum inside draw — even over this trip — with Always Resolute.
He’s got winning form over this distance and is fit from finishing second over hurdles at Cartmel last time. He’s on a fair mark and should be in the shake-up.
Stormin Tom was outclassed in better company at York but was in cracking form when winning at Ripon and Beverley earlier this summer. He’s still well weighted and could easily bounce back.

PROVE your Point in this Listed contest. BLAKENEY POINT was a fantastic fifth in the red-hot Ebor Handicap at York last time, putting in his usual honest effort.
Although that was over further, his most recent win came over this trip and there was plenty of cut in the ground that day.
Not all horses take to this track so it’s another plus that he’s won here before and he was a solid fourth in this class at Goodwood in May.
Veteran Gabrial likes it here and was in excellent form when scoring over 1m2f at Epsom last month. He was fourth in this race back in 2014 and is sure to give his running again.
Hochfeld hasn’t managed to win this season but has been knocking on the door and is interesting dropping in distance. He won the last time he tackled this course and distance and the ground was also soft that day. This is a tougher race than that but he has solid place claims.
