AYR

1.30

GUILDHALL seemed to like soft ground when a close-up third on his debut at Sandown last time out. He was very green in the early stages before finishing off the race well.

He wouldn’t have to improve much on that to get off the mark.

There are some nice newcomers in this but FIVE AMARONES can use his experience and follow up his win at Thirsk last time out.

He really enjoyed getting his toe in that day and galloped right to the line, which will serve him well in these testing conditions. He’s proven in this class and should be on the upgrade.

2.30

LIGHTNING ATTACK caught the eye when beaten by just a neck at Hamilton last time out. He has been left on the same mark by the handicapper and the soft ground there was right up his street.

The first-time visor may help him concentrate and a repeat of his last effort should be good enough.

COSMIC LAW has been out of sorts on his past three runs but he is back on soft ground here for the first time since winning by six lengths at Epsom in June. Those other runs were in Group 2 contests which looks a bit beyond him and the drop to Listed level looks a wise move.

The drop to the minimum distance won’t be an issue and the first-time blinkers could also help.

3.35

INTENSE ROMANCE ran a cracker when winning a decent handicap at Haydock last time, scoring by almost three lengths. She liked this trip that day when there was plenty of cut in the ground. This is a step up in class but conditions suit and she should be right there.

Magical Dreamer won well at Chelmsford last time and relishes this ground too.

4.10

GABRIAL THE DEVIL is 3lb lower than when finishing an excellent second at Chester last time out. That was over 7f but he has enough zip for this distance and his stamina should be an asset in these conditions.

He usually breaks well so should be prominent, which is where you want to be in this field with a decent draw also helping.

4.45

DOMINATING didn’t get the run of the race when fifth at Chester last time but he’s a thorough stayer who has come nicely down the weights.

He’s below his last winning mark now and has shown some of his best form in bottomless conditions. Arrowtown won well at Thirsk last time and would have a chance if seeing out this longer trip.

5.20

Dropping to a mile on soft ground gives GAMESTERS ICON every chance of getting off the mark in this open race.

She’s had a little more help from the handicapper since a solid fourth at Carlisle last time and went close in a better race at Haydock the last time she got these conditions.
