The six-year-old was quick to bounce out from the stalls and never saw another rival under jockey Kerrin McEvoy as the pair landed just over £3 million for first place.

Trapeze Artist battled on for second with Osborne Bulls coming home third but there was only ever one horse in the race.

McEvoy said: "It's just euphoria at it's best and it's such an electric feeling.

"There's such a big build up to what is already such a great race and it's a huge buzz to win it again.

"It was similar to last year. I thought perhaps U S Navy flag might give us a test early but from the gate Plan A was to control it from the front.

"And that's exactly what he did, he's such a little warrior.

"He's quite reserved other than raceday, and all he wants to do is gallop and gallop hard. He's a gem."
