Free horse racing tips for today: Redcar, Haydock, Fakenham, Wincanton and Newcastle – The Wizard of Odds’ betting preview for Friday, October 19
The Wizard of Odds guides you through Friday's racing at Redcar, Haydock, Fakenham, Wincanton and Newcastle
SILVER SEA can sail away with Wincanton’s 5.05.
He is coming here on the back of two excellent efforts at Newton Abbot. The most recent was probably the best where he seemed to enjoy every yard of this trip.
The form of that third place is already working out well and a 1lb rise in the weights gives him strong claims again.
He was a top performer on the Flat in Germany but his career in the UK has been a little stop-start. It looks like trainer Seamus Mullins has got him going now and he can rate much higher than this.
SOD’S LAW can rule at Haydock (3.35).
Hughie Morrison’s three-year-old has taken a big leap forward on his past three runs with an excellent third at Newmarket followed by convincing wins at Ffos Las and Pontefract.
The win in Yorkshire was his best effort as he picked up well and kept going right to the line in the testing conditions.
He is proven over the mile trip, the ground will be ideal, and he looks open to plenty of improvement from just 3lb higher in the weights.
Fastar could be the main danger given his liking for this course and distance.
He was unlucky to finish only third here last time when meeting plenty of trouble in running. He is on a fair mark and should be on the premises again.
LINCOLN PARK went into many notebooks when winning on his handicap debut at Pontefract last time out. He looks a good shout for Haydock’s 5.15 under a 6lb penalty.
He kept it simple by going from the front and kept producing more when asked for his effort in the closing stages.
He has already shown a real liking for this ground and the step up from 6f also looks sure to bring further improvement.
The Wizard's best bets
STRIKE IT LUCKY 15: ROCKY’S TREASURE (3.10 Fakenham), SOD’S LAW (3.35 Haydock), SILVER SEA (5.05 Wincanton), LINCOLN PARK (5.15 Haydock).
EACH-WAY DOUBLE: QUICK LOOK (3.05 Haydock) really enjoyed the testing ground when finishing a good fourth at Ayr last time out. That was the Silver Cup which is a hotter contest than this and the 6f distance is ideal. He goes unpenalised for that effort and will be hard to keep out of the frame.
Pair him with SOLDIER TO FOLLOW (2.45 Redcar) who created a good impression when winning in the mud at Hamilton last time out. He saw out the 1m4f distance well so this longer trip should suit.
ROCKY’S TREASURE looks a golden bet at Fakenham (3.10).
He was a talented hurdler and made a good start to his chasing career when winning by 15 lengths at Kelso on debut last time.
This is a tougher assignment but he should improve considerably on that effort and this 3m trip should be right up his street.
Cultivator looks the main threat from Nicky Henderson’s yard. He won well at Worcester last time but that was over 2m4f and this longer distance doesn’t look certain to suit him.
