Vertem Futurity Trophy: Eleven left in race as Magna Grecia leads the Aidan O’Brien charge

CHELTENHAM might be on the go but let's not wish away the flat season just yet.

Eleven have been declared for Saturday's Vertem Futurity Trophy, formerly the Racing Post Trophy, and if it's anywhere near as good as last year we're in for a treat.

Saxon Warrior out battled Roaring Lion in a intense renewal last summer and those two went on to win five Group 1s this summer.

Aidan O'Brien again brings over a strong team - led by current favourite Magna Grecia.

The youngster has only run twice, but his second to Persian King at Newmarket looked good on the eye and on the clock, and should read well in time.

John Gosden has two exciting entries in Turgenev and Kick On. The former is well fancied to improve on his novice form so far and has Frankie Dettori jocked up.

Kick On runs in the Qatar colours of Roaring Lion and has already been mooted as an exciting horse for next season.

Phoenix Of Spain is one of the more experienced in the lineup and sits third in the betting with Jamie Spencer on board.

Tom Dascombe's Great Scot has had four runs but needs to step up on his Haydock Listed win.

The one from one pair of King Ottokar and Raakib Alhawa take a step into the unknown for Charlie Fellowes and David Simcock respectively after winning a pair of novices.

Dashing Willoughby and Kuwait Currency complete the lineup.
