Saturday’s horse racing NAP: Your best bet for today’s racing from Callum Jamieson

Don't miss out on today's best tip across all the cards up and down the land

SO Friday brought another second in the shape of Thomas Darby with Barry Geraghty getting one over Richard Johnson up the Ascot straight.

As strains of 'Seconditus' go, that made it five out of the last six NAPs finishing second, with the one winner. It's getting pretty serious.

I'm putting my trust in CRESSWELL LEGEND (Ascot, 12.55) to be the medicine to cure this once and for all.

He was decent over hurdles but was always going to improve for a switch to fences and has run well in two starts over them so far.

He was backed on his chase debut when beaten a head by a Gordon Elliot horse now rated 13lbs higher.

Upped in trip at Hereford, a couple of poor jumps and the tight track had him finish second again. That horse has hosed up again since.

It might seem like I'm asking for trouble backing a horse that's finished second the last twice with the form I'm in but this chap is due a win off this mark.

The race doesn't look that deep with a few making their chase debuts and the bigger, galloping track should suit Kim Bailey's stout stayer down to the ground.

Depending on the price he could be a juicy each way bet.

I also really, really like MR ANTOLINI (Haydock, 1.50). It's a trappy little race, but he looks an each way bet to nothing and I can't see him out of the places with a clean round. He's dropped in trip and well handicapped. Fingers crossed.

IF THE CAP FITS (Ascot, 2.40) is another fancy but could be too short in the Coral Hurdle. I'll let you decide.
