Jailed jockey Charlie Deutsch back with a bang as he rides Aso to victory at Newbury
Deutsch returned to riding in October having served part of a ten-month sentence for drink driving
JOCKEY Charlie Deutsch enjoyed an important success as he looks to rebuild his career following his jail sentence.
The jockey rode ASO to victory at Newbury on Friday just a month after getting back in the saddle following his time in prison.
The former Grand National trial-winning rider was found guilty of driving over the drink drive limit and escaping police custody in March.
Then 21, he was stopped for a breath test after a night out in Cheltenham with some weighing-room colleagues.
Police found he was 14 micrograms over the legal limit - but before they could detain him he ran back to his car and drove off at speeds of over 100mph.
Deutsch was sentenced to ten months in prison but was released on licence after serving two-and-a-half months, and has now returned to the saddle as Venetia Williams' number one.

Since coming back he has notched up three wins - with undoubtedly his most important coming aboard Aso (8-1) in Newbury's valuable Ladbrokes Handicap Chase on Friday afternoon.
Jail time clearly hasn't disrupted his flow as he produced a masterclass front-running ride aboard the Williams-trained gelding.
Taking it up from the outset, the 22-year-old judged his fractions perfectly and drew clear from two out to land an emphatic success.
The impressive winner had Paul Nicholls' Touck Kick (5-2) thirteen lengths back in second, with 4-1 shot Three Musketeers in third.
