Sizing Tennessee bolts up as trainer Colin Tizzard lands Ladbrokes Trophy 1-2

Elegant Escape boxed on for second to give the Gold Cup-winning handler a day to remember

SIZING TENNESSEE (12-1) was an American dream as he scooted clear to land the Ladbrokes Trophy in sensational style.

The ten-year-old scored Tenn out of Tenn in the jumping stakes on the way to an impressive victory in the prestigious Grade 3 contest.

Trainer Colin Tizzard celebrated one of the biggest days of his career as Elegant Escape fought on to finish second, landing him a famous 1-2.

In a race run at a furious tempo, front-running favourite Thomas Patrick was one of the first to hoist the white flag as Dingo Dollar, Ms Parfois and West Appraoch all queued up to have a go.

Alan King's contender took up the lead four out, but was soon clobbered by the cantering presence of Tom Scudamore and Sizing Tennessee.

Approaching the last, the pair whizzed clear of the rest to give Scudamore a famous victory in the yellow and green silks of the late Ann and Alan Potts.

Elegant Escape stayed on from the rear to snatch an underwhelming second, while I'm A Celeb fans were in clover as Dingo Dollar boxed on for third.

An emotional Scudamore dedicated the victory to his late Grandfather and said: "I lost my granddad two weeks ago – my mum's father – and it was his funeral yesterday and I wasn't able to go.

"Those are the sacrifices you make and I was so sorry not to be there, but he was with us today. He was a tremendous man and helped a lot of people. It's one for him."

"He's always been a good horse all along. It's one of the finest chases in the country and to win means a lot."

Winning trainer Colin Tizzard said: "It's unreal isn't it? Sometimes you get really lucky don't you? It's brilliant."
