In-form trainer Venetia Williams keen on Calipto with Saturday options still open
The double-seeking chaser holds an entry at both Cheltenham and Doncaster this weekend
VENETIA Williams is hoping double-seeking Calipto can bring the heat this weekend.
The progressive chaser is on track for a tilt at either the Sky Bet Chase at Doncaster or the Spectra Cyber Security Solutions Trophy at Cheltenham.
Despite looking out of sorts on his first two starts this season, the nine-year-old has really got his act together of late.
An unseat when booked for second at Chepstow was followed by a career-best victory in front of the ITV cameras at Wincanton, and his trainer is hoping for an even bigger payday on Saturday.
Williams told Sun Racing: “I’m not sure whether he’ll run in the Sky Bet Chase at Doncaster or in the Grade 3 handicap at Cheltenham.
“Wherever he goes, he deserves to take his chance in one of these big prizes.

“He’s one that might not want the proper soft ground, so this weather has been ideal.”
A former Triumph Hurdle fourth, the in-form handler has worked her magic to return the son of Califet to his very best.
She added: “The ratings suggest he’s getting back to the level he showed when he was younger.
“I’m not sure how much more he has left to come as his races have been carefully selected.
“That’s all going to go out of the window this weekend as you can’t be so careful in these bigger races, but hopefully he’ll continue to run well.”
