Cheltenham Trials Day: Five runners to watch out for at Saturday’s big meeting

THERE will be Cheltenham Festival clues aplenty on Saturday.

Jumps HQ plays host to the brilliant Trials Day meeting this weekend, and we've picked out a few horses to watch out for with an eye to the Festival in March.

Torpillo - JCB Triumph Trial Juvenile Hurdle

Nigel Twiston-Davies' exciting four-year-old is unbeaten in three starts.

He could hardly have been more impressive when breezing to a 22-length success at Sandown last time.

He is a best price 16-1 for the Triumph Hurdle at the Festival.

Glen Forsa - Timeform Novices' Handicap Chase

Progressive chaser ran out an impressive winner at Kempton on Boxing Day.

That form has been boosted, with the runner-up a wide-margin winner earlier this month.

He boasts a similar profile to the same connections' Mister Whitaker, who won this race and at the Festival last season.

Valtor - Betbright Trial Cotswold Chase

Missed an intended engagement at Haydock last time due to an unsatisfactory blood test.

He had been a hugely impressive winner of a hot race at Ascot on his previous outing.

An intriguing contender if he gets the green light to run by Nicky Henderson.

Birchdale - Ballymore Novices' Hurdle

Exciting hurdler who made a winning Rules debut at Warwick last time.

He beat a talented bumper horse in that race and he has been well-backed for this contest.

His current odds of 20-1 for the Ballymore at Cheltenham Festival will tumble if he wins here.

Black Op - galliardhomes.com Cleeve Hurdle

Very smart novice hurdler who was second to Samcro at last year's Festival.

Hasn't cut the mustard in two starts over fences this season, lacking fluency over the bigger obstacles.

Fascinating contender returned to hurdling, with the Sun Racing Stayers' Hurdle division currently wide-open.
