Racing report card: The big Monday gamble, one for your tracker and the storyline of the day this Monday
Don't miss Sun Racing's review of the action on Monday, February 18
THE mudlarks finally got what their trainers have been longing for on Monday.
The action had a real grassroots feel to it at Carlisle and Lingfield and we've picked it apart to tell you what it all means.
Storyline of the day 📖
3.50 Lingfield - Le Reve
The Surrey National was a cracking spectacle, with the wonderfully-named Maxime Tissier just getting 20-1 shot Le Reve home under a terrific front-running ride.
It was Lucy Wadham's first winner since the 'flu-break' and the £10k cheque will keep morale high.
There's a circle inside and outside of racing that believe horses should be retired as they get older and show signs of a dip in form.
Just watch this race back. This 11-year-old will show you otherwise.
One for your tracker 🔭
1.45 Lingfield - Parisian Affair
This four-year-old has has shown very little for Neil King in two bumper runs but stuck on for an eye-catching second in the opening bumper.
She's bred to do well on the all weather, but this was a huge step up and she travelled with plenty of promise throughout.
Another step up in trip must be on the cards, and why she won't be a star, she should certainly be a big factor in a similar race in the near future.
She'll be a staying hurdler to keep an eye on in smaller races next year.

Monday's big gamble 💰
3.35 Carlisle - Teescomponents Lad
Available at double figures this morning and still at 8s and 9s half an hour before the off, Gillian Boanas's young hurdler was a cosy winner of a useful handicap up at Carlisle.
An SP of 5-1 suggested someone fancied him and a return to this trip brought out further improvement.
The race should work out well and given similar conditions he remains progressive.
