FUR REAL?

Tyson Fury confirms he is interested in MMA career after hanging up boxing gloves under tutelage of Conor McGregor

TYSON FURY confirmed he wants an MMA career after hanging up his boxing gloves - and hopes UFC star Conor McGregor can train him.

The Gypsy King has a rematch pencilled in against WBC champion Deontay Wilder in February 2020, but last month made his WWE debut wrestling Braun Strowman.

Straight after the WWE stint, Fury announced plans to try his hand at MMA, as part of a ‘takeover’ involving all combat sports.

The 31-year-old even released footage hitting the pads with UFC middleweight Darren Till, showing off impressive knees and elbows - and now wants to train with McGregor in Dublin.

But the heavyweight boxer revealed he will only make a switch to the cage once his ring career is over.

He told RTE Radio 1: "I’m looking forward to coming to train with Conor. We’re going to get it all planned in and I should be over in Dublin quite soon.

"I’ll definitely be coming over for a training session, that is for sure.

“I have been MMA training in the last week with Darren Till in Liverpool. I really enjoy the new challenge.

"I don’t know where or when [I’ll move into MMA] because after I finish my boxing career I fancy my hand at MMA as well."

McGregor agreed to train Fury, tweeting the boxer encouragement, and the unbeaten heavyweight is eager to pick the brain of the former two-weight UFC champion.

He added: "I think Conor is an absolutely fantastic fighting man. He has offered to train me if I ever want to go into MMA.

“What better trainer could I have than the Notorious Conor McGregor?”

Fury called out heavyweight champion Stipe Miocic and fearsome puncher Francis Ngannou.

But UFC president Dana White was left less than impressed, insisting the boxer would get “smashed” if he traded the Noble Art for the octagon.

However, ex-amateur Golden Gloves boxing champion Miocic revealed he fancies a shot at Fury in the ring.

The Gypsy King accepted the challenge, looking to replicate the success McGregor and Floyd Mayweather had for their money-spinning crossover bout in 2017.
