Big fight breakdown: MMA analyst Robin Black previews Eddie Alvarez v Conor McGregor at UFC 205
Lifelong student of the game Robin Black looks ahead to the blockbuster main event at UFC 205, but rather than assessing the techniques of the two men involved, he looks at another aspect - their ability to take pain
THE main event bout at between and has all the makings of a fight of the year candidate.
Just ask Canadian MMA analyst Robin Black, whose high-energy pre-fight breakdowns have become essential viewing ahead of the big title fights.
Black was at it again this week as he broke down the UFC 205 headliner, as he highlighted a different angle to consider ahead of the blockbuster champion versus champion matchup.
Rather than going over old ground and assessing the two fighters' respective skillsets, Black instead delved into the psyche of both men, as he looked at Alvarez and McGregor's "willingness and ability to embrace suffering" ahead of what promises to be a titanic title fight.
The bout forms the main event of what is generally expected to be the biggest UFC event ever staged, with Alvarez v McGregor headlining a trio of world title fights at Madison Square Garden.
And with McGregor's stratospheric success inside the Octagon facing off against the UFC's real-life Rocky, uber-tough Philadelphia fighter Alvarez, the atmosphere in the Mecca of combat sports is set to be electric on November 12.
