Eddie Alvarez and Conor McGregor get set to make a statement in UFC 205 fight week
After the verbal jabs and jibes of the US Presidential election, Conor McGregor and Eddie Alvarez get set to unleash even more verbal fireworks as the stars of UFC 205 get set for the biggest show in UFC history
ELECTION fever has hit New York City as America goes to the polls to decide the next President of the United States.
And on Wednesday morning, as the fallout begins after one of the most controversial campaigns in living memory, a whole new battle starts to take centre stage in The Big Apple.
v headlines here in New York this coming weekend and, unlike the Presidential election, there's no doubt here who has the popular vote.
McGregor is the man of the moment right now, and with good reason. With all the hype surrounding the Irishman, you could be forgiven for thinking that he's the defending champion and Alvarez is the upstart challenger looking to knock him off his perch.
Much like the Donald and Hillary's work on the campaign trail, Alvarez and McGregor will get their change to stake their respective claims during fight week here in New York.
The first time we'll see them in 'fight week mode' will be tomorrow at the Open Workouts, where we'll see the duo take to the mats and hit the pads in front of the fans, before answering a handful of questions to give us media types some grist for the mill.
Then, they'll take to the dais on stage at MSG for the official UFC 205 press conference, where you can expect more verbal fireworks between the pair.
And after the official weigh-ins on Friday they'll they'll face off for the final time at the ceremonial weigh-ins at 'The Garden' on Friday afternoon in front of a packed crowd.

There won't be any email scandals, or accusations of lewd behaviour towards the opposite sex.
What we'll have instead is verbal fireworks galore as the stars of UFC 205 get set for the biggest show in UFC history.
