CM Punk blasts ‘disrespectful’ Logan Paul for dead body video and discusses fight with YouTube star
The former WWE star is without a win in his opening two MMA bouts, but claimed he would not want to fight YouTuber Logan Paul, after he disrespected the people of Japan
FORMER WWE star CM Punk claimed he has no interest in a UFC fight with Logan Paul - and blasted the YouTuber for his controversial 2017 video in Japan.
CM Punk, who has lost his only two professional MMA bouts, was linked to a scrap with Paul, who recently fought fellow YouTube star KSI in a boxing exhibition.
However, talking to , the 40-year-old claimed he has no desire to fight Paul, and revealed he only recognises him from a controversial video he made last year in Aokigahara, Japan.
In 2017 Paul made a video in a Japanese ‘suicide forest’ and was captured laughing with friends about the body they filmed hanging from a tree - although the YouTuber would make several apologies for his actions.
After Paul’s first experience in a boxing ring, talk of a switch to the cage surfaced, with the 23-year-old an experienced amateur wrestler - however, CM Punk does not want a fight with the ‘Maverick’.
CM Punk said: “I’m not fighting Logan Paul. I think this is one of the avenues where people will be like, ‘I don’t even know who Logan Paul is.’

“Logan Paul is apparently a popular guy, but it’s not in any kind of avenue that I drive my car on.
“The only thing I know about him is he’s the guy who filmed the dead body in the Japanese suicide forest, which is don’t get me started on that, because I’ll say a bunch of stuff and then I’m sure somebody will make a YouTube video about it.”
The former WWE champion made his official switch from the wrestling ring to MMA in 2014 - and debuted against Mickey Gall two years later.
A debut first round loss to Gall and later a decision defeat to Mike Jackson leaves CM Punk 0-2 in the cage - with his future as an MMA fighter now question.
However, CM Punk spent the years 2004-2006 competing for Ring of Honour, an independent wrestling promotion throughout the United States and Japan.
And the winless MMA fighter claimed Paul’s insensitive video was ‘disrespectful’ to the people of Japan, who he 'loves'.
CM Punk said: “When you fight somebody, when you enter into a fight camp, you have to spend a lot of time thinking about that person.
“Maybe some guys don’t, maybe some guys focus on themselves. But you still have this person in front of you.
“And I’m not into sharing that much of my time and my headspace and my life with somebody that did something that I feel is so reprehensibly disrespectful to the people of Japan, who I love.
“They’ll always have a special place in my heart. So, no. I’m not fighting him. I have no interest to.”
CM Punk has recently announced a move into commentary with MMA promotion Cage Fury Fighting Championships.
