KHABIB NURMAGOMEDOV took one final swipe at Conor McGregor after Notorious announced his retirement by roaring: "There can be only one king in the jungle."
Khabib beat McGregor for the lightweight title in October, forcing the Irishman to tap in his last UFC performance.
But the bout was marred by the brawl outside the Octagon afterwards, which resulted in both fighters being given bans.
That was the last time either man fought and Khabib has asserted his dominance over McGregor once more with a mocking tweet.
Alongside a photo of himself holding up his index finger beside a UFC belt, Khabib posted: "There can be only one king in the jungle."
McGregor - who went from apprentice plumber to superstar in just a few short years - became the first man in UFC history to hold titles in two weight divisions at the same time.
He did by that by beating Eddie Alvarez to the lightweight belt at UFC 205 in 2016 when already featherweight champ.
But he lost his lightweight crown to Khabib in the fourth round of their UFC 229 showdown in Las Vegas last October.
McGregor has not been in action since and announced his retirement in a short tweet this morning.
He wrote: "Hey guys quick announcement, I’ve decided to retire from the sport formally known as “Mixed Martial Art” today.
"I wish all my old colleagues well going forward in competition.
"I now join my former partners on this venture, already in retirement. Proper Pina Coladas on me fellas!"
UFC president Dana White wished McGregor well in a text exchange with ESPN reporter Brett Okamoto.
