Rio 2016: Hope Solo comes up with extreme protection method to combat Zika threat at Olympics
American goalkeeper taking mountains of repellent and an anti-mosquito hat to this summer's Games
AMERICAN goalkeeper Hope Solo is taking no chances with the Zika outbreak during her time in Rio.
The stopper, 34, has uploaded pictures showing her huge stash of mosquito repellent ready for packing.
And for extra protection, she donned a huge anti-mosquito hat.
The virus is rife in Brazil and is spread by a specific kind of mosquito which can cause birth defects in babies if transferred by pregnant mothers.
She wrote on Twitter: "If anyone in the village forgot to pack repellent, come and see me… #DeptofDefense #zikaproof."
Earlier this year she spoke out about her fears over the virus which has seen Rory McIlroy pull out of the Games.
She said: "I would never take the risk of having an unhealthy child.
