Rio Olympics: Team GB arrive in Brazil as tennis ace Andy Murray and Rugby 7’s hopefuls start training immediately in the heat
TEAM GB have touched down in Rio for the Olympic Games, but some athletes haven’t let the jet lag get in the way of instant training sessions.
British sports fans will be desperate for a repeat of the terrific medal haul at London 2012, but know that the searing heat and poor conditions could hinder efforts.
A number of top stars from across the globe have also pulled out due to the Zika threat, but Brit stars including Andy Murray and Tom Mitchell seem determined to go for gold in Brazil.
All eyes will be on Murray when he takes to the court at the Olympic Tennis Centre fresh off the back of his Wimbledon win.
The Scot has already been putting in the hard work in training since arriving in Rio and will feel confident about his chances after seeing the likes of Roger Federer, Milos Raonic, Romas Berdych and Stan Warwinka leave Switzerland’s team looking bare.
Meanwhile, Team GB’s Rugby 7’s have been putting through their paces in the scorching sun as they prepare for Friday’s opening ceremony.

The team are currently training at football club Cruzeiro’s ground in Belo Horizonte, and Mitchell worked up a real sweat as the likes of James Rodwell and Dan Bibby also got to grips with their new surroundings.
But elsewhere, household names including Jessica Ennis-Hill, Greg Rutherford and Mo Farah are also getting ready to bring home more gold for Britain.
Sir Bradley Wiggins, Laura Trott and Chris Froome will be hoping to pedal their way to glory, with Tom Daley looking to improve on his bronze effort from four years ago off the diving board.
And Team GB's fencers were also in action as they warmed up at the Minas Tennis Clube in Belo Horizonte.
James-Andrew Davis showed his mettle in some exciting duels and will be looking to land a podium finish in Brazil.
