Tom Daley spotted KNITTING in stands during women’s diving final at Olympics – and he’s made a pouch for his gold medal
OLYMPIC champion Tom Daley was spotted knitting in the stands during the final of the Olympic Women's 3m springboard final.
Daley, 27, won his first Olympic gold medal last Monday alongside Matty Lee in the Men's synchronized 10m platform.
And ahead of the Men's individual final on Friday the Brit looked relaxed with his needles in hand.
Seated inside the Tokyo Aquatics Centre the diver worked on a pink and blue design surrounded by fellow athletes and officials.
After picking up gold earlier in the week he displayed a new knitted pouch he made to hold his shiny new medal.
The design bears a Union Jack on one side and a Japan flag on the other, with Daley saying he created it to avoid his medal getting scratched.
"This means I can carry around my medal without it getting scratched."
COMPETITION: SPOT THE BALL TO WIN A CAR AND CASH
Daley may have to make another pouch after Friday's individual final.
The Brit won individual Bronze in London 2012 and after finally succeeding in the synchronised event this time around he should be brimming with confidence.
Daley has now won three Olympic medals - having also won bronze in the Men's synchronised 10m - and after making history by becoming Team GB's youngest diver to compete in the Olympics, he will look to follow it up by winning two golds in the same Games.
