Rio Olympics 2016 football: Defending champions Mexico and crisis-hit Argentina both crash out at group stage

London 2012 gold medallists lost 1-0 to South Korea while Copa America finalists held 1-1 by Honduras

LONDON 2012 gold medallists Mexico crashed out of Rio 2016 at the group stage and so did crisis-hit Argentina.

In truth, Mexico were the better side against South Korea but couldn't find a way through.

That allowed K League Classic star Kwon Chang-Hoon to strike in the 77th minute for a 1-0 win.

He found an easy passage through Mexico's practically non-existent back line and netted what was his country's first shot on target.

A Lionel Messi-less Argentina needed to win against Honduras to advance to the quarter-finals but could manage only a 1-1 draw.

Hosts Brazil face Denmark needing a win to advance from the group stage and it's likewise for South Africa, who take on Iraq.
