Rio Olympics 2016: McDonald’s in athletes’ village places limit on food after surge of super-sized orders

THE McDonald's in the Rio athletes' village has had to place a 20-item limit on orders because world class scars are scoffing so much junk food.

Some athletes have reportedly waited "hours" in line to bag the free grub - even at 5am - and the queues are said to be longer than a football field.

The ripped stars see the eating of a Big Mac and fries as a release after months of eating clean in preparation for the Games.

Australian badminton player Sawan Serasinghe's snap of his massive order went viral.

The 22-year-old posed alongside a mountain of food while flashing his six-pack and said: "It's time to eat some junk food after months of eating clean."

But it turns out that binge-eating athletes have another reason for going there.

It has been claimed that the food served in the village cafe has been pretty ropy and that they eat at the world's biggest fast food chain for something better.

Now the limit has been brought in at McDonald's to cut down the queues made by the some of the 10,000 athletes at the Games.

Usain Bolt famously ate 100 chicken nuggets a day in the Beijing Games in 2008.
