Rio Olympics 2016: Team GB women’s hockey reach their first final after superb 3-0 win over New Zealand
GREAT BRITAIN'S women's hockey team are guaranteed at least a silver medal after they beat New Zealand in their Olympic semi-final.
A brace from Alex Danson and a goal from Helen Richardson-Walsh saw the Brits reach their first ever hockey final.
Waiting in the final will be the all-dominant Netherlands side who are aiming for a third straight Olympic gold medal.
"To fight for an Olympic medal is what gets us up every morning, let alone to be in a gold medal match," said Britain defender Crista Cullen, who came out of retirement in 2015.
"We are hugely proud of where we have got."
GB had slipped to seventh in the world after a poor performance at the Champions Trophy in June, but are so far the only team in this competition to have gone unbeaten.
They have already beaten Argentina and Austrlia - ranked two and three in the world - with the top ranked Netherlands to come.
