Rio Olympics 2016: Elidh Doyle finishes last in 400m hurdles as American favourite Dalilah Muhammad eases to victory
EILIDH DOYLE trailed home last in the 400m hurdles final after struggling to take on the field from lane one.
Doyle, formerly known as Eilidh Child, lined up in her first Olympic final in an individual event.
The two-time Commonwealth silver medallist had set a personal best of 54.09secs to win the Diamond League in Monaco last month, the sixth fastest time in the world this year.
But the 29 year-old, who failed to get through the semi-finals at London 2012 although she was part of the 4x400m relay team that finished fifth at the Games four years ago, could only clock 54.61secs last night.
