Jimmy White fired up to take on Ronnie O’Sullivan in throwback to good old days of snooker
Jimmy White is expecting a packed house for when he takes on Ronnie O'Sullivan just like the good old days when us used to face Alex Higgins
WHIRLWIND Jimmy White insists he is not all blown out ahead of a clash with Ronnie O’Sullivan.
The Rocket, 40, inherited the mantle of ‘People’s Champion’ from White, 54 — who himself succeeded Alex Higgins as snooker’s top draw.
The pair have not played over the best of seven frames or longer in a ranking event for 14 years.
And while six-time world championship runner-up White is ranked 108 in the world, he is fired up for the Northern Ireland Open showdown.
He admitted: “I will have to play better than I did in the first round because O’Sullivan would murder you with a repeat of that level.

“There is always a packed house as I’m sure there will be for this one. We play Snooker Legends exhibitions and there is never a spare ticket.
“I am playing OK in practice still.”
