Now he could face the most severe disciplinary charge after Sam Kasiano claimed he attempted a DIY proctological exam on the field.

Edwards, 31, has been hit with a Grade F charge of ‘other contrary behaviour’. If proven, Charge F carries a ban of at least eight matches but could be for a period of time.

Last year, Catalans’ Joel Tomkins was given eight matches for a similar offence.

Edwards will face a tribunal in the week, likely to be on Wednesday because of a round of Super League matches taking place over the next 72 hours.
