WHITEWASH

Australia 40 England 44: Eddie Jones’ winning run goes on as England win wild game to see Wallabies suffer first series whitewash at home since 1971

England had already created history by winning a series Down Under for the first time in their history last week

ENGLAND whitewashed Australia to cement their place as the second-best side in the world with another record win thanks to Owen Farrell's 24 points.

The superb Red Rose tourists had only won three Tests Down Under in 105 years beforehand - now they have double that after a record haul of 44 points against Australia.

Rounding-up an historic 3-0 series win against the Wallabies boss Eddie Jones stretched his unbeaten run to nine games to bring home the Cook Cup in style.

With mission accomplished Down Under Jones' side won't get a shot at the mighty All Blacks until 2018 - but the RFU could pull out all the stops and lure them to Twickenham during the autumn of 2017.

Tries from Dan Cole, Anthony Watson, Billy Vunipola and Jamie George - as well as the nine out of 10 kicks for Farrell - made sure England fly home as worthy champs.

Michael Cheika's men kept up the pace as they scored through Foley, who also added 15 points, Dane Haylett-Petty, Michael Hooper, Israel Folau and a last-minute consolation from Taqele Naiyaravoro.

Australia's all-time record try-scorer David Campese, an old teammate of Jones' at Randwick, slammed England as “boring as bat s**t” after their win in Melbourne.

But Campo - who also holds the Allianz Stadium record for 17 Tests plays and nine tries - was made to eat his words with a massive slice of humble pie.

The sublime win in Sydney was yet more proof that this side has a lot more to give after going the distance against the World Cup runners-up.

As the two side traded blow after blow with score after score Wallabies fans began taunting their ex boss Jones in his coaches box.

But again, it was Jones, who had the last laugh against the nation that ditched him in 2005.
