The surprising call by Jones will no doubt leave Red Rose fans in shock, but it shows the Australian boss has a squad packed full of firepower if he can ignore the league's top scorer.

Premiership player-of-the-year and Saracens star Alex Goode was also dropped from the 24-man squad kept at England's training camp preparing to face the Pumas along with Harlequins flop Marland Yarde.

Eddie Drones

ENGLAND called in the flying squad to help plot Argentina’s downfall on Saturday.
Coach Eddie Jones drafted in a gang of drones to tape his players in training.
The eyes-in-the-sky buzzed 100ft above the forwards as specialist pilots filmed the action. Jones said: “The drone is fantastic. It’s another piece of technology that helps us accelerate the programme.
“It allows us to see how well we work off the ball — and, in rugby, work off the ball is just so important.”
